Bitcoin's Quantum Readiness: Exposure, Mitigations, and Upgrade Paths

A synthesis report (Presidio Bitcoin, April 2026) that pulls the quantum-and-bitcoin literature into one place across six themes: the state of quantum hardware, bitcoin's exposure, available mitigations, an orderly transition, a rapid-response scenario, and the outlook. It is a secondary source — it organizes and interprets the primary material rather than introducing new cryptography.

Two of its contributions are its own analysis rather than restatements of others. It models migration capacity: dedicating about a quarter of block space to migration, it estimates roughly 90% of bitcoin's value could move within days and the bulk within weeks. And it quantifies developer attention by tracking the bitcoin-dev mailing list, reporting that quantum-related messages rose from a small share to around half of traffic over 2024–2026. Those figures are the report's modeling and measurement, and this topic attributes them to it as such.
