BIPs Editors and Reviewers (Bitcoin Core Dev Tech, May 2026)

A short status note on the BIPs (Bitcoin Improvement Proposals) repository. Submissions are up this year compared with prior years, but only one BIP Editor was regularly active in the first quarter, prompting an open mailing-list proposal to select a new editor team.

The repository is open to comment from anyone, and broader participation from the wider ecosystem would be welcomed. People interested in becoming editors are encouraged to start reviewing BIPs to demonstrate engagement, and to ping contributors with relevant expertise toward proposals worth their review.
